Year One

Celebrating the first year of Michael Schumacher's incredible career at Ferrari, the 1996 Ferrari F310 was powered by a 3.0-liter V10 engine that produced over 700 horsepower. It featured a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, a semi-automatic transmission, and a hydraulic clutch. The car had a top speed of over 215 mph and could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds.

F standing for Ferrari, 3 for the displacement of 3 liters, and 10 for the number of cylinders that sat in a 75 degree V angle.  Other notable features included its lightweight design [just 600 kg/ 1322 lbs including the driver], dry sump, multi plate gearbox, rack-and-pinion steering, and 13 inch wheels.

Despite a slow start, the 1996 Ferrari F310 proved to be a successful car that helped Ferrari to achieve continued success in the sport.  The F310 seen here sporting the number 1 plate due to Schumacher winning the F1 World Championship the previous year in 1995.
